Food, fun, and Gemütlichkeit!

Mason Companies was one of the proud sponsors of the 9th annual Oktoberfest in Chippewa Falls. The celebration ran September 16-18 at the Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds.

The non-profit event is family-focused and filled with elements of German heritage. The weekend-long celebration includes music and kids activities, and features a number of authentic German and English fares to satisfy a variety of tastes.

Highlights of this year’s event included the annual tapping of the Golden Keg, parade, kite making workshop and a variety of dance demonstrations.  Performances by the La Crosse Oktoberfest singers, Mississippi Valley Dutchmen and interactive instrumental group the Swing Crew, were just a few standouts of the weekend.

This year, around 600 volunteers donated their time to make the event a success. Bill Wonder, merchandiser at Mason Companies, was a member of the food committee and co-chair of the planning committee for the event. This year marked Wonder’s sixth year of volunteering for Oktoberfest.

The annual Oktoberfest celebration is not only a chance for members of the Chippewa Valley to come together, have fun and celebrate, but as an employee of Mason, Wonder believes it’s a great chance for staff to get involved.

“I think is very important for Mason employees to give back their time to their community whenever they can.  It is great to work for a company that recognizes that need and encourages it.”
